The Forbidden Kingdom

This movie brings me back to the days of the Kung Fu classics. When Kung Fu movies dominated the world and that was all anyone ever watched. Bruce Lee was kickin' peoples asses and Jackie Chan was jumping onto trucks and punching people. Steven Seg...... wait, never mind.

Anyways, those days may have been here the whole time, although slightly forgotten by many Americans Kung Fu movies have continued to be popular in Asia, and when released in America most of these titles tend to go straight to video. It is nice to see a true Kung Fu movie come back to American theaters to hopefully spark a re-interest in the genre. Unlike Crouching Tiger of House of Flying daggers the story in this movie sucks a lot more (which is a good thing) allowing for less plot and way more Kung Fu action.

The story is this: A boy in a shop finds a blade and must return it to the monkey king in another time so he is teleported there meets Jackie Chan who is basically drunken master in this as he is a character that drinks wine for health!!! Anyways the blade is recognized and Chan agrees to help bring it to the monkey king. Along the way there is a monk that steals the blade because he does not realize the boy and chan are trying to bring it to the monkey king. when he does realize however they join forces. The rest of the movie is an epic kick-ass battle to get to the monkey king and then to get him his blade so he can return.

The monk and the monk-ey king are both played by jet li.
